 The Philippines are home to an estimated 1.5 million street children, many of whom survive by begging and selling salvaged recyclables from the streets of Metro Manila.
Poignant and unexpectedly hopeful, Children of Manila looks beyond the statistics to present the stories of three such children, their families and the challenges they face, depicting both the hardship of life on the streets and the simple hope that shelter and an education can provide.
Directed by Alessandro Molatore and produced by Johanna Budzilowicz and Genny Carraro, Children of Manila was shot in April 2007 in several locations in Manila.
Shot by Luca Rocchini with the music of Kíla, Children of Manila had its World Premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh 2008.
